Since 2022 Ikigai has sailed from Rome to the San Blas islands of Panama — more than 10,000 nautical miles across 20+ countries. Here is the logbook so far, anchorage by anchorage, and where the bow points next.

2022 We set sail
  1. July

    Rome, Italy

    The starting point of the journey — an emotional farewell to the Italian capital, rich in history and culture.

  2. August

    Sardinia, Italy

    The island's rugged coastline and crystal-clear water made for breathtaking scenery and smooth sailing.

  3. September

    Balearic Islands, Spain

    Pristine beaches and hidden coves, especially around Mallorca and Ibiza.

  4. October

    Almerimar, Spain

    A technical stop for boat preparation and maintenance ahead of the Atlantic.

  5. November

    Gibraltar

    The gateway to the Atlantic, where the crew prepared for the crossing to the Canaries.

  6. December

    Cape Verde

    A short, intense stop in the tropics — Creole culture and volcanic landscapes.

2023 Atlantic crossing & the Caribbean

    Saint Martin

    A Caribbean island, half French and half Dutch, known for stunning beaches and a blended culture.

The road ahead

From here the adventure points west across the Pacific — the Galápagos, the Marquesas, Tahiti and Fiji — eventually reaching northern Australia. From there we'll sail up through Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and the Maldives, before crossing the Indian Ocean toward India and Dubai. Then along the coasts of Oman and Yemen into the Red Sea, past Sudan and Egypt, and back into the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal — closing the loop.
